"SWEP Webinar Series Season 3 - Series 1: “The New Normal and Beyond in Accountancy: Surviving and Thriving During and Beyond the Crisis”
The webinar held last July 9 was exciting and filled with lessons to learn. From Ms. Jona the first speaker tackling the topic "Accounting in the owner’s perspective" she shared her experience in a variety of fields of accounting namely in public practice, education, commerce and industry, government, insurance, accounting in banks, internal audit in banks, and in finance. Her experiences inspired and motivated me to become like her, I also want to know a lot in this field and doing so requires experiencing different things to know what I have and to discover what I lack. Her discussion about MAS also left me with an impression that MAS is a huge help and aid to the stakeholders about economic decisions and especially now in the pandemic it really helped them in this trying times.
Next, after Ms. Jona is Mr. Rex who then tackled “Doing Business in the Philippines Under CREATE Law”. The topic was really helpful and timely for us BSA students not only because it will be included in our examination but also because CREATE law will affect our lives sooner or later as fellow tax payers. He then reiterated that the said law was created to lessen the burden of taxpayers due to the effects of the pandemic, that its purpose is to help the people to stand once again and recover from this hardship. Sir Rex effectively discussed the changes in the tax rates for individuals and corporations, incentives , and the advantages and disadvantages of this law. Overall the webinar was a blast and it was an honor hearing from well known and experience CPA's whom now I admire and idolize.

The 2nd topic "unique auditing trends under the new normal" discussed by Mr. Ray Marvin Flores, CEO - CKO was also so impactful and helped me understand some of the practical ways and practices in the world of auditing and management. Mr. Ray also advised us future CPA's to explore and discover more about our profession, to try and start from the bottom and learn from a variety of experience. Also he said that it is important to continuous learning and he commends people who expertise in a field. I learned from sir that "someone who is expert in a field is paid more than a jack of all trade".
